Why doesn't this surprise me?

Well, whilst drinking a lot of alcohol will clearly diminish mental ability, at a moderate level, any slight reduction in mental function is clearly outweighed by the benefits of a reduction in mental blocks caused by over-analysing and/or trying to translate consciously on-the-go.

Which all confirms what we in the SSi community know already, that the real power of language ability is in the subconscious mind. We need to trust our subconscious selves to come out with the words and concentrate on saying whatever we want to communicate rather than focussing on the mechanics of word choice and grammar.

Actually, I learn Welsh as an excuse to drink alcohol before I have a conversation.
