I’m kind of chuffed - it appears I’m going to have a Welsh niece! My nephew, Justin, is in Wales visiting now and has proposed to Lowri, and she has accepted! What fun!

Are they going to live in God’s Own Country, …or is he taking her back to the States…? 
I’m really not sure. They met in graduate school in the states, but he is rather taken with the Welsh culture, so I guess we’ll see!

So, here’s the latest on this. (Yes, I know it has been many months . . .) Justin and Lowri are being married in Columbus, Ohio (USA) in October (we’re going to the wedding), and then there is a second event (not sure what all it includes) in Cardiff in December. The second one is so that many friends and relations in Wales don’t have to travel to the US to see Lowri in her wedding finery, among other things. I think - for right now anyway - that they will be staying in Columbus, but may think of moving to Wales sometime in the future. Just a guess. They are VERY likely to travel back and forth fairly often.
So, anyway, I’m trying to polish my Welsh a bit so that I can chat with Lowri (and her family) yn y Gymraeg in late October.

I actually got an opportunity to meet Lowri on Sunday! They made a quick trip into town here for an open house meet-and-greet with friends of his parents (my brother & his wife). They were busy talking with a lot of people so I didn’t really get a chance to speak Welsh with her. She is a very lovely young lady so I am looking forward even more to the wedding now and a possible chance to actually chat with her in Welsh, however briefly.
I did get a tiny chance to ‘siarad Cymraeg’ though. While I was chatting with another guest, my sister-in-law mentioned that I speak Welsh. The other guest asked why I speak the language and I was able to answer in Welsh (very simple - from the earliest lessons, I think) - “Achos dw i’n dysgu Cymraeg, achos dw i’n licio Cymraeg.” They said something like “okaaay, what does that mean?” and I explained.
