Hi, I’m planning a trip to Conwy. Does anyone know if there are any welsh cafes locally where I can practice? I’m quite nervous to just start speaking as only just started relearning. Diolch
Hi Mandy there aren’t any cafes in Conwy where you are guaranteed to be able to speak Welsh as it is a predominantly English speaking town (although you will hear quite a bit of Welsh spoken there on a Friday and Saturday night as people come from up the Conwy Valley to have a drink ) but you will get the odd waitress/bartender who can speak Welsh. They will usually be wearing a necklace saying “siarad cymraeg” . There were a couple of girls working in The Erskine who were wearing these necklaces when I was last in there , there is also a girl who works in Parasellas ice cream shop who speaks Welsh. She doesn’t wear a necklace Cymraeg but you can tell by her accent . I’m sure that if you do find someone and explain that you are learning then they will be more than happy to let you practice with them
