US TV show The Amazing Race features Welsh-language poetry

The US TV show The Amazing Race, on the CBS network, features teams who travel around the world and compete in different challenges. This week they were in Llangollen, and the challenge was to memorize and recite a Welsh poem correctly! I haven’t watched the episode yet, only heard about it; the link to the episode is below. If someone finds where the Welsh bit starts, please post the info!

About 15 minutes in.

Not accessible in the UK without an IP blocker.

You can watch it on YouTube from about 13:00 on. It’s actually in Trefor where I used to live (about 4 mile from Llangollen). Fantastic.

Cheers Kim, I haven’t tried making links yet.

On this note I recently stumbled across the viewing of a very old episode of Treasure Hunt with Anneka Rice where they visited - Llanystumdwy; Porthmadog; Portmeirion; Llechwedd Quarry, Blaenau Ffestiniog; Maentwrog.

It was first aired in 1984 and at the age of 12 I found it completely fascinating that they came so close to the area where I lived to film!

Here is some more info on the episode -

I haven’t gone as far as checking YouTube yet.

I used to love that programme, and Anneka was a lovely girl (and still is, I think).

The programme was like “Round Britain Quiz”, but with all the cobwebs well and truly blown away.
