This may come across as kind of weird, and I’m sure it’s unorthodox, but here goes:
We’re having a luncheon at a local diner (in Brooklyn) for my son’s 1st birthday in August, and if you know me even a little, you probably know or have observed that I dread social situations like this very one I am planning.
You may also know I have a small apartment, am not a good cook, and haven’t hosted anyone in my home for a local meetup (as a few of my kind compatriots have).
So, in the essence of a) reciprocating the hospitality that has been extended to me in the past and b) giving me a distraction so I’m not an anxious and awkward ball of nerves, I would love to extend an invite if anyone is interested in a free lunch and a sgwrs bach.
The date is August 27 at 12p - you’d need to let me know in advance for this one.
Hey Joanie,
That sounds great, & as a bad cook (no stove) in a small apartment, I sympathize & encourage. I figure if guests come for the food, they will be sorely disappointed, but I make it up by being the life of the party. That said, there is almost no chance I can come to a Saturday-noon event but I would love to if I can. I will let you know. cheers, Elinor
Sh’mae Joanie. Congratulations to both of you on your nearly-one-year-old son. I recommend a lamb or mutton-based cawl for your get-together - you can start cooking it now.
@ElinorNYC LOL, thanks. It’s an Efrog Newydd thing, isn’t it?
@hewrop Good to see you around here again! Bill and I were just fondly reminiscing about boot camp. I will consider the cawl, lol. Diolch am yr awgrym.
Hey Joanie!! (I’m on the forum very infrequently these days so just seeing this now!) How exciting! Llongyfarchiadau mawr i chi a penblwydd hapus i’r un bach!
Would love to be there for you, but am not quite sure if I can yet! I understand you need to know in advance–but how soon in advance?
Hi Joanie! I’ll be there! I don’t check Forum much these days…Could you email me the details? (Or message on FB) Diolch! Dw i’n edrych ymlaen at ddathlu gyda chi!
