Titling posts with important words first

The visible titles in the list of threads are very truncated on some devices. To make it more likely that interested people will see your thread, and to make search results easier to sort through, I suggest trying to put the most informative & important words in a title first – so, “Moscow: New SSIW Group” rather than “New SSIW Group Meeting in Moscow.”

It’s also worth putting something that matters, or is distinctive, in the first line, since that too shows up in the thread list.

Now to see if I can follow my own advice…

I did a similar thing with my current post about the Rochester meet. Thankfully, Ifan has put in a facility where you can change the title of the post (if you’re the one who started that post!) so I put only the important words in and the date of the next meeting so it all shows for most devices. It is a really good idea Diane.

Even on a laptop/PC, you don’t really get as much of the title as I for one would like.

I’d really like to see some user control of column widths, or a choice to see either the list of threads or just your current thread at any one time, and of course the ability to quickly change the views you are seeing. I’ll put in a request via Trello as soon as I can think of some succinct wording to express exactly what I mean.

Tahl: I suggest trying to put the most informative & important words in a title first

The classic journalistic inverted pyramid method.
