I have heard this exactly done in Welsh by native speakers, Andy - Be’ dw i wedi’i ddeud wrthot ti am…?, followed by VN:
Be’ dw i wedi’i ddeud wrthot ti am beidio golchi dwylo cyn cinio? ‘What have I told you about not washing your hands before dinner?’
Diolch yn fawr iawn, Gareth. That will come in really handy. Mrs G was really impressed by this as she’d just asked me what I was reading (Intermediate Welsh by some bloke or other) then up pops this answer😀 Fantastic!
I got you brownie points with Mrs G? Then my work on this planet is finally done!![]()
No it isn’t!!! There are a whole lot of us who need you!!! But I can see that getting an answer ‘direct from the author’s computer’ would gain huge Brownie points for Andy!!! ![]()
How would I say “Hope you have a lovely day” or similar words? (for a birthday card!)
On that note, what would be the equivalent of to/from, or to/love?
I was wondering if it is possible to get a list of the words used in the vocab sessions?
I’m not completely sure of the best adjective to use, but you won’t go far wrong with something like:
Gobeithio ges ti ddiornod braf / hyfryd / neis / er… lyfli!
I expect someone will confirm what sounds best.
To/from = i / oddi wrth
Dear/love = Annwyl / cariad
Edit: sorry, I read “I hope you HAD a lovely day” for some reason. “I hope you HAVE a lovely day” would be:
Gobeithio gei di ddiornod braf (etc).
Yes, this, except for ‘ddiwrnod’ instead of ‘ddiornod’… ![]()
Er, yes, they should be around somewhere (I’ll be glad when we’ve moved everyone to the new design!) - in the meantime, here you go:

Could @tatjana tell me how to get there from the Forum without having to open some file??
And:
if you live in Wales, please help:
I want to tell all MPs representing Welsh constituencies about the petition to save the funding of S4C. Some seem to have some kind of filter on their e-mail which sends an auto reply to non-constituents, telling them, in effect, to go away. Please would you e-mail your MP and any list MPs for your area, telling them and sending the link
Thank you!!!
I’ve got a quick question which I can’t answer by myself without creating an extra account; how many lessons are offered free to newcomers nowadays? I have access to all Welsh/English lessons when logged-in because I pay my subscription, but I can’t access any of them when I log out. I’m trying to write advice for people who’ve just joined our new language group at Canolfan Cymru Lerpwl. There was a large expression of interest in SSiW at our inaugural meeting last night!
Last time I checked, Course 1 was free and the Weekly Practices, and, I think, Level 1 is free too.
Thanks very much.
I hope people from your language group decide to try the SSIW course. It will be so wonderful to have new learners around here
When you say “here” do you mean that you are based on or near Merseyside?
Here on the forum, I mean. I’m based in Belarus:)
Oh, the wonders of the internet!
If you use chrome, it usually opens in the browser. If not, it’ll unfortunately open with Adobe reader though. If you click to the link @aran posted above your post is thould open the file itself. This is all help I can give here unfortunately.
Stella is absolutely right…
Tiny question:
- How to say “I will be tired.” Can it be “Byddai wedi blino.”? It sounds a bit wrong to me.
Thny answer in one sentence, please:
Thank you.
Yes, that’s perfect (although you’d want to write it as ‘bydda i’
).
