Thrown back to orange belt and stuck there forever

TL;DR: The SSi app has become unusable for me today, and I’m looking for support.

I finished the Welsh South course earlier this year, but still practice regularly on infinite play. In fact, I went for a walk yesterday and got half an hour in without problems. Today I wanted to do the same. It felt easy and a bit repetitive, but no problem. After a few minutes of getting the same sentences over and over («Dw i angen ymarfer siarad cymraeg») I checked my phone and found I was at the start of the orange belt level, unable to make progress. There were no motivational breaks and no introductions of new words or sentences, just the same few sentences again and again.

Things I have tried

  • Skip to advance: has no effect, back to the first orange belt sentence.
  • Revisit: with one or two presses I was back to white belt. There, everything felt normal. I could even skip forward again, but only until … you guessed it, the start of the orange belt level.
  • Closing and opening the app
  • Log out and log in again
  • Go to statistics to check my furthest belt: it shows black, and my current belt as orange
  • Go to Account → Languages, edit belt and set it to black. Go to Learning, but it’s still on orange.
  • Choose another language. I chose Italian, where I had been on orange/black before. Nope, start of orange it is now forever («voglio che tu parli con me»)
  • Switch device. When indoors, I’m currently learning Spanish on my iPad. Tried that when I came home. I was able to continue my previous session there, and went from green/white to green/black within a couple of minutes. Switched languages to check out Welsh and Italian (still broken), back to Spanish. Surprise, Spanish is now also back to orange.
  • Use browser to visit app.saysomething.com. Same effect for all three languages, I can’t get any further than orange.

Any help would be very appreciated.

Shwmae @erich, sorry to hear about the issues. It sounds like the app is not recognising your subscription status for some reason, so I’ve asked the Tech Team to check that. I’ll let you know when I hear back from them.

In the meantime, what does it show if you go to Account => My Subscription?

Bore da @Deborah-SSi , thanks for having it checked. My subscription says I’m subscribed for GBP10.81/month, next renewal 15th December (so actually today).

That tallies with what I’m seeing in Admin, so I’ve asked the Tech Team to investigate further.

In case there are any others with this issue, it has now been resolved and you should be able to continue in the Belt you were.
