OK, people! Here it is - the most boring recording youād ever hear - and yes, itās mine ā¦
No need to say Iāve recorded about 10 of them alltogether 3 days in a row but ended uploading the most boring one because it seamed the best to me ā¦ and yet, even there are mistakes ā¦
OK @aran I hope Iām doing this right as I often seem to find myself in the wrong thread! Hereās my pretty awful five minute test - aloud - and no, I am NOT fishing for compliments by denigrating my efforts, just being a realist!
No, absolutely dim problem @tatjana And if you tell me how to do whatever it is I need to do to make it less trwbl for you guys, then I will do whatever it takesā¦
You just didnāt put the link into new line, thatās all it was to do for me in order to embed your recording. So now you know, when youāll put the recording on here next time, you just need to put it in the separate line. If youāre not sure the line is new line, you make two new lines before pasting the link. Discourse software itself looks after the stuff and do it appear as just one line space.
Okay; hereās my 5-minute recording of the 13 questions! Yes, I could have spent ages repeating it over and over again until it was perfect, but as that is definitely NOT the SSiW way I have decided to let it stand as it is, with its deficiencies:
Vicky, having just spent ages preparing my own 5-minute recording and just posted it below, I know how hard it is. You sound like you have really given it everything that you have - well done!
Okay, so I wonāt compliment you on how well you really did. Just say that if you were perfect then you wouldnāt need SSiW in the first place - just like the rest of us!
Very unsure if any of this will workā¦I think this should be my very embarrassing and hesitant answers. I have been working on speed and still sound too slow.
However, itās been just as stressful using soundcloud for the first time. I didnāt know I was signing up for āa tech courseā too. Used the same approach as speaking to strangers in a strange tongueā¦bang on regardless and do it quick before you realise what you are doing.
Having submitted my 5-minute recording yesterday, itās so nice listening to everyone else. Makes me feel that weāre all in the same boat - learning a new language, struggling, laughing, hopefully all having a great time.
I thought that this 5-minute recording exercise was bizarre when it was launched last month - I donāt think that
any more. Itās a great thing. It helps me no end with my listening skills, on which I always need to improve.
Great step forward @aran. Sorry, but I just wonāt ask you to be my brain surgeon - no offence I hope.
OK, hoping that this might be an encouragement.
Today, I had to update my mobile phone answerphone āgreetingā (in English). For some reason, I sounded different to real life.
When I got home, I made a dummy voice recording, again in English. Again I sounded slow and in a Northern accent from 30 years ago. How weird.
Iām taking comfort that Iāll sound better in the wild, both in English and Welsh.
