I’m not sure you understood what I meant - sorry if I wasn’t clear - it’s not that percentages are unimportant - it’s that the percentages you’re getting show me that you’re doing fine, and that the process is working for.
Beyond that, feelings are everything - because if you allow yourself to feel negative, you will progress more slowly - but if you allow yourself to see everything you have achieved so far, and to feel positive about it, you will find the entire process much more enjoyable - and enjoying the process leads to better and faster learning…
I always tend to go into a lesson with attitude “today it will surely be better” but seing I can’t produce anything at all and being aware that I actually don’t understand majority of things always put me down. Tonight I have to do my work yet though I don’t feel negative (yet) about this but I’ll see what happens regarding the whole todays events regarding going through the lesson prety soon …

I’m curious if it’d be any better. All lessons after L8 are a bit better then this so or L8 must be really taugh or I was in bad mood., but I don’t recall I’d be.

I’m just curious what today’s lesson brings and what the result at the end. To be honest I still don’t get 80 % of those shortening thingys. They’re still all the same to me …
But yes … something is happening, obviously despite my conversations with @brigitte once a week are very Cymraeg poor from my end. Or I can’t remember words or I forget how to form sentences … all in all if Brigitte wouldn’t take a lead speaking more Cymraeg then I ever will it would be pure English or silence …
Here is Wrap up of the 2nd 7 lessons set of Course 3. Lesson 8-14
Deliberately I’ll go into pure statistics and nothing more. I’ll repeat along what I’ve already reported in one of previous posts though.
L8=1 %
L9=16 %

This 2nd set alltogether makes 17 % and the whole Course 3 until now 16 %. Thanks to those 32 % of Lesson 12 the second set is for 2 % better then first one but average the measures for the first one are better.
As I still say, I don’t understand almost all of the shortenings and relatively good percentage (18%, 24%, 32%) is only because more new shortenings were introduced and the first thing is parrot-fassion repeating of the introduced shortening or word. More or less all the rest I didn’t remember and I don’t even remember now.
So, the same old story about not understanding and even more not to remembering for minute back what was introduced and said. Sorry, but I have a feeling I’ll never in my life be able to learn those. Too many, too similar, going into too many complicated softenings … Interestingly enough, I can’t even understand what @Iestyn is saying to us at the beginning and the end of the lessons. I only can imagine, but not understand, what surely isn’t good sign at all.
I know you all said I should rather say what I can, however there’s (sadly) nothign to be told about …
No it isn’t! There’s no parrot-fashion repeating in any of our courses. If you find the initial phrases easy, that’s a sign that you’ve got a strong working memory - lots of people find the initial phrases difficult.

These scores are great - I’m very happy with them. I’m looking forward to seeing what you produce for the rest of Course 3. You do realise that you’re moving through the material faster than about 90% of our learners at the moment, don’t you?
I’m moving through despite I’m not even a bit prepared to move on because if I’d stop I’d stop forever, but this, of course, results in I don’t understand almost anything. When I think I already understnad why something is so, then comes the thing I’m puzzled about. Why all those possesive things …
For some things in Course 1 I still believe.
I actually meant if tutor says (for example) “the Welsh expression for (I’m literally making up now) “may I” is “gai””, what’s easier then repeat it. Those first introduced words and expressions are really easy because what’s easier then just repeat what was just said a second ago and those are usually correct. When it comes to use those expressions or words in the real (even if short) sentence then my mind comes to blank. Usually first two words are spoken from me and when person or tense changes even those are wrong, and all the rest is silence. In those situations my mind blocks totally and it’s hard for me even to think what to remember what I am supposed to do (say).
I’m not sure if there’s really any hope, but with your help and so much believing in my (kind of) abilities (or is it pure scientific fact which I can not see), I one day might come to this:
As always, I’ll keep going (somehow) … YES! It could be like drawing a picture! When on this picture will sailboat be added, then you’ll all know I’ve (finally) came to where I wanted to be.
(and for all those who understand me wrong most of the time, this is pure brainstorming and not intention to insult anyone especially not @aran and the whole team behind SSi and you who are eagerly trying to help).
OK, Let’s leave that last (previous) post to rest (I kind of like that second picture I’ve swiftly created out from “graph”, so I’ve came to idea … noooooooooooooooo, I won’t tell you, you’ll see.). But I’d go with the flow of previous post anyway.
I had a Skype chat with @brigitte yesterday (as every Saturday recently) and at the beginning we kind of agree I need some of those shortenings practice. However, unfortunatelly we didn’t get to far with that. “I came” and “I said” (I believe) were the ones we tried but there came almost nothing from me. I didn’t believe myself (yes, I still thought I at least can slowly produce them) that I actually really can’t use them, but I’ve seen prety enough those are a problem. I still have a feeling if sentence is shortened it is like half of it was missing. It seams simply too short to me and when I finally managed to somehow say what was needed to say I still thought what I’ve said is not enough (is not all). And as in lessons, I found the shortenings all the same in conversation too … “wedesi” “esi” (sorry, I don’t know how to spell those) … all seams the same to me …
We still said some simple things in Cymraeg though and through our German conversation Cymraeg and English words were flowing aswell. I’m not satisfied with my Cymraeg, but the general impression of the whole conversation is good and pleasant anyway.

Croeso mawr Tatjana. I’m always pleased to chat with you, switching between Cymraeg, English and German, and here and there a word or phrase in French. If you bear in mind, that none of those languages is your mother tongue, you should feel yourself proud to be so polyglot.

I love reading about your progress Tatjana and am so impressed how well you are doing in learning Welsh through the medium of English which must be doubly hard for you. We all go through peaks and troughs in our progress, and you have just provided me with an exciting little moment - because I could read the Cymraeg and UNDERSTAND it in your previous posts with Brigitte about looking forward to your next skype chat!
It’s never just repetition. Even the first time, you have the English repeated before you say the Welsh - and from then on, you have longer sentences using the new word/structure. I’ve watched enough people struggle with them to know that even those beginning points are not easy.
I don’t mind you feeling frustrated by the difficult parts, Tatjana - it’s hard to develop the calmness that is really needed - but I do find it frustrating when you try to dismiss the things you do actually achieve. If I make a positive comment about you, please accept it as the truth - I do not tell people nice things just to make them feel better - ask Catrin!
You’re achieving more than you realise. The more positive you can be, the more you can bring yourself to trust in what I’m saying, the happier and easier the journey will be - for me as well as for you
I don’t think it’s not truth it’s just that I always think I could do more and am frustrated I’m not able to. I never was used to “shine” in my life, because I probably never did. I will try my best to accept “positives”.
