I’m currently on Level 2, Challenge 5 and I’ve been struggling with the same thing throughout. I’m sure there’s a reason but if anyone can enlighten me or suggest any help that would be fab!
As you go through the material, you’re introduced to different sentence structures/words and how to use them and you get the hang of using them and adapting to different sentences. However, fairly often this changes with no explanation and sometimes a different word is used entirely. Totally expected with language but I’m really struggling as it’s not written anywhere so I can’t grasp what the actual word is or the rule that’s attached to it. This definitely isn’t a complaint! I would just love to know how people navigate it
@lauren-45 most of the new words and structures are shown in the Vocab Lists. Have you had a look at those? They’re on the website, under the Learn menu, then Classic Challenges.
I know there is the occasional word that has crept into the audio-based lessons without an introduction, but there aren’t very many.
I see that you haven’t had an invitation to join the SSiW Community Chat Slack group, which is another good place to ask questions, and you can join in the online partner and group chats there. Any queries or doubts can be cleared up in the Slack group, especially if you can make the Q&A session on a Wednesday morning. I’ve sent you an invitation to join the group now.
Thank you! I currently exclusively use the app version and I do use the vocab section, if it’s any different compared to website version? It may not be as frequent as it feels, but my determination to learn Welsh makes it feel like I’m missing out on important things (I think arnot ti may be one for example?) Thank you also for the Slack invite!! I’ve just been a lerker so far, think it’s time to get more involved!!
I used the automagic app version and when I went through the black belt material earlier in the summer, there were loads of new words which had not been formally introduced before use. I reported most of them here. I don’t know if that has been fixed yet.
I quite like the "Yesss! " feeling when it all becomes clear, and I find that I remember those words much more quickly, as if my poor old brain had already started storing them properly before they were explained.
These neuroscience types can be very sneaky, you know.
