@gisella-albertini I also changed the tab titles so that they are (hopefully) a bit clearer, as well as some other minor rearrangements, etc.
Yes I think this should be a clear enough warning!
(and practical to carry it over to the master list)
Gwych! If you have a chance sometime @gisella-albertini @Telyn_Marco @shaun , please look over my new descriptions and instructions at the top of each page and let me know if there’s any more clarification needed. Diolch yn fawr iawn!
Hey @sasha-lathrop, you’re doing a lot!!! Great!
I checked the new descriptions and instructions.
I think that the content is good - and starting to write a text is the hardest part, so chwarae teg!
However I have to admit that the way it looks - because that’s how spreadsheets look, not your fault! - made me feel a bit like… at the thought of reading it!
So I decided to copy and paste it all on a doc file to read it more clearly, and at that point I also wondered if it would not be a good idea to keep the instructions on the tabs as short as possible, to keep it lighter and less frightening to the innocent casual reader and just link a separate file to find out more (if one needs to)?
Check my notes here (I also changed a few details in the text - see if you like them):
@sasha-lathrop I found the instructions on the sheet to be fine though I also see that @gisella-albertini 's doc file would be preferred by many. So now we have both!
PS - @sasha-lathrop , I notice that you are 8hrs behind us over there so I will drop you a message on skype later this afternoon my time to see if you’re free for a chinwag yn cymraeg.
@gisella-albertini @Telyn_Marco Thanks for looking at it for me and for creating the doc! I’m happy to keep it super brief in the tabs, and a link to the instructions might be sufficient. An instructions tab might help people without scaring people as well… I’m open to whatever will make it most user - friendly.
I’m not at my computer yet, I decided to sit and look at the (few) stars for a while with my coffee. I get up super early, by the way… I’m living in Iceland time or something, but it helps when I have English lessons at 4 am with students in China! So, @Telyn_Marco I’ll let you know when I’m inside and we’ll see what time we can work out.
4 am is definitely pretty early!
Looks like we all agree about having an external doc file for extra instructions.
When you have the chance, take a look at my doc (that’s not finished as you’ll be able to see) and let me know if there’s anything you’d like to change/improve!
p.s. for the last two day’s I’ve been waking up with Gwilym’s song in my head! That’s how it goes with transcription!
I got up closer to 2 today, it’s just after 3 now…!
I’ve had /Neidia/ in my head for days now! I try to replace it with other songs, but… Nope.
Okay @gisella-albertini @Telyn_Marco… so, I am back and my computer and I have copied my original instructions and put them into their own tab, and then I simplified the instructions on each of the other tabs. I also included a link to @gisella-albertini’s How-To doc near the top of each tab. Let me know if you think this will work, and what other changes you’d like to see!
You two really are outstanding at this! Thanks very much indeed for all the effort you’ve put in so far! I promise to contribute at least something very soon.
ps @sasha-lathrop - I gotta pop out for an hour or two then I will see if you’re free to chat.
I know I’ll have to improve the FAQ and maybe we’ll notice other details while we go along, but for a start it seems alright to me!
Oh one more thing, since we’re hear to learn but also for the fun!
An idea popped up in my mind when I woke up - while the Welsh songs we’re transcribing were playing in my head
I just could’t resist creating an official page for the Italwelglish Alphabet.
Here it is:
Feel free to contribute to the silliness and suggest corrections or add English phonetical “translation” of the sounds!
Finally getting around to sharing the lyrics I’ve figure out/found! I just added this one which includes the chords (I love figuring out how to play things) but let me know if you guys would prefer just the lyrics!
Great, thanks for adding the songs!
For me it’s fine to have the chords as well. After all, whose who are not interested can just ignore it!
I would just add the title and artist of the top of the page (not only as document name).
It seems clearer when you give a quick look. What do you think?
Finally got around to read the FAQ and how to go about adding the document links, and so on. I added “Fel hyn 'dan ni fod” by Bwncath to the “Work in Progress” tab. (Keep your eyes open, there’s probably more to come soon.)
Great!
We’ve been a bit slow but hopefully with time…!
