Pump am y Penwythnos / Friday(ish) Five 04/06/2019 5️⃣

Ok, so it’s not Friday, but because of the whirlwind that was the 10th birthday party celebrations, my attention has been elsewhere. So here’s a bonus…

1) In which ways do you think SSiW should consider celebrating milestones in the future?

2) How on earth can I do a better job of getting around to chat to everyone at a large gathering?!

3) If you were at the party, which things do you think could have been better? If not do you think a live webcam setup would have been a good idea?

4) If we were to organise a big event like this again in the future, would you like to get involved and what could you bring to the table?

5) Which special guests would you like to see at future SSiW events?

6) Make up your own celebratory question and answer it…

Parties and bootcamps are an excellent 2 tier model because they allow people to choose participation according to the time they have available. Perhaps a little could be added to the cost to help people travel to the event from further afield.
2) How on earth can I do a better job of getting around to chat to everyone at a large gathering?!
a) appoint a double - you could check if Catherine Zeta Jones is free
b) ration the number of free cwtsches you give out.
3) If you were at the party, which things do you think could have been better? If not do you think a live webcam setup would have been a good idea?
Without being too much of a creep, I’d say nothing at all. Undecided about webcam. I’d spend too much time posing in front of it
4) If we were to organise a big event like this again in the future, would you like to get involved and what could you bring to the table?
I’d be more than happy to help with anything I could do sitting on my pen-ôl. I’m good with most IT facilities but not strong on social media
5) Which special guests would you like to see at future SSiW events?
Guess!:heart: How about Iolo Williams?
6) Make up your own celebratory question and answer it…
Q: “Dysgu Cymraeg?”
A: “Siarad Cymraeg”

Have a 10th birthday party every year. I have had a 21st birthday party for the past, well, several years.

2) How on earth can I do a better job of getting around to chat to everyone at a large gathering?!
Mobility scooter. Shouldn’t be hard to find one…

3) If you were at the party, which things do you think could have been better? If not do you think a live webcam setup would have been a good idea?
Better, what could be better? If you had a live webcam then I might have watched if from home and missed this amazing event.

4) If we were to organise a big event like this again in the future, would you like to get involved and what could you bring to the table?
Well, I liked the lights in the vases on the table so I wouldn’t bring those. Not on the table but perhaps a little more room between them.

5) Which special guests would you like to see at future SSiW events?
Um, I hate to say this but I don’t follow Welsh media or Welsh music much so I had to look up the names of those who did something. However, I did manage to have a short chat with one woman who also gave a little talk, she would be good to have again. Can’t remember her name but had a North Walian accent, wasn’t young and Catrin looked a little like her.

Q. What is almost as good as the SSiW 10th birthday party.
A. The SSiW bwtcamp that is currently taking place.

Catrin Finch!

1) In which ways do you think SSiW should consider celebrating milestones in the future? As I live in the United States, the obvious answer is have a concurrent celebration event somewhere in the US. Cymru is 4 hours ahead of the US. I can celebrate at 3 or 4 in the afternoon :clinking_glasses: There could be a simulcast between the venues, so both rooms can communicate with one another. It would be a total blast, because some of us couldn’t get to Wales, but DC or Philly or NY is certainly doable for many. Why stop at the East Coast? If there is enough interest, simulcast around the world! If we wanted to be completely crazy-ambitious, convert Iestyn’s 24hr shmaethon into a 24hr SSiW Celebrationathon…somewhere in the world a group of people is celebrating SSiW for 24 hours straight!

2) How on earth can I do a better job of getting around to chat to everyone at a large gathering?!
If you are totally serious about this question, then bring an assistant who’s only job is keep you on track with time. 3 minutes per person with some flex time when needed. The assistant tracks the flex time, so you don’t go over the time allotted for initial conversations. After the initial round, you follow up for more indepth and fun conversations. Seriously, this is how a room is worked.

3) If you were at the party, which things do you think could have been better? If not do you think a live webcam setup would have been a good idea? N/A no magical dragons swooshed me to Wales last week. But from reading the threads, looking at pictures and watching Heno, it was a fantastic celebration.

4) If we were to organise a big event like this again in the future, would you like to get involved and what could you bring to the table? Absolutely, I’d be willing to help out, and I could bring homemade Mac-n-cheese to the table. In terms of organization, I’m in IT, and mostly function with data analysis and numbers. So if SSiW had an East Coast simulcast party, I would be more than happy to organize and work out technical aspects for simulcasting between locations.

5) Which special guests would you like to see at future SSiW events? I know so few people outside of SSiW who live in Cymru, but maybe a Q&A session with the Minister of Language, or whatever that office is called, that is responsible for determining how Cymraeg is to be developed to ensure it reaches a self-perpetuating level. There are atleast 7 questions I would ask that person with many more follow up question.

6) Make up your own celebratory question and answer it… Naethoch chi codi gwydraid o win wythnos diwethaf? Do, Do n’i ddim yn mynychu y dathiadau, hyd yn oed, nes i codi fy gwydraid a gwenu.
