For kids in Wales, school’s out for summer today. This afternoon marks the beginning of 6 weeks of fun and freedom, picnics, beaches, barbecues, theme parks, tents, lollies, holidays, ice creams and so much more… though we remain at the mercy of the unpredictable Welsh weather…

  1. What summer event or occasion are you most looking forward to this year?

  2. What’s your best remedy for a disappointingly cool, wet and windy summer Saturday?

  3. In a complete wash out, which far flung destination would you escape to and what would you do there?

  4. Given a gloriously warm summer’s day, can you recommend a great day out anywhere in Wales?

  5. Give me 5 - a summer read, a summery drink, a song to listen to whilst relaxing in the sun, a favourite barbecue food, the best view anywhere in the world.

Diolch!

What summer event or occasion are you most looking forward to this year?

The Eisteddfod. No, going to County Durham. No, cracking this ‘riding bikes’ business (for the kids, I hasten to add, I’m fairly sure I can still remember how myself).

What’s your best remedy for a disappointingly cool, wet and windy summer Saturday?

A long walk! With wet weather picnic! (that is, mostly whisky).

In a complete wash out, which far flung destination would you escape to and what would you do there?

Bay of Islands. Swim with dolphins.

Given a gloriously warm summer’s day, can you recommend a great day out anywhere in Wales?

Ynys Enlli, watching seals.

Give me 5 - a summer read, a summery drink, a song to listen to whilst relaxing in the sun, a favourite barbecue food, the best view anywhere in the world.

That makes it 9 for the weekend, doesn’t it?!

Summer read: War and Peace.
Summer drink: mojito please. Ahem. I’m waiting.
Relaxing summer song: Lleuwen, ‘Tachwedd’. Yeah, I know.
Barbecue food: grass-fed tenderloin steak.
Best view anywhere in the world: from the top of yr Eifl.

A brisk walk along the beach, followed by a hot chocolate!

Any Mediterranean village, drink good local wine and wander through the Olive Groves.

4.Given a gloriously warm summer’s day, can you recommend a great day out anywhere in Wales?

Porth Meudwy (as long as the tide is out), a quiet secluded beach well away from the tourist traps, followed by a walk along the cliffs to Aberdaron and lunch in one of the cafes. Perfect!

Any good magazine (preferably about camper vans or caravans) - sorry very sad I know…

Come down south to Slovenia. We have from 34 - 37 °C right now and it’s forcasted 41 for Tuesday! In our house, now that it’s 11:10 pm it’s about 30 °C right now. Here’s all about 35 °C and more hot week.

Ummm … Pleasant hot days …

Our summer holiday in a cottage in Llangwnadl, introducing my family to some of the wonders I have experienced during my 3 bootcamps.

  1. What’s your best remedy for a disappointingly cool, wet and windy summer Saturday?

The beach, fantastic whatever the weather. Wrap up warm and get stuck in.

The extreme commercialism of Orlando … Everything, twice.

Blasu, MSR.
Cold water.
Alice in Chains unplugged album.
Chicken, pepper and onion skewers.
As you drive out of Mynytho towards Pwllheli, start going down the hill and the view opens out in front of you. On a sunny day it’s the most intense, incredible view you will ever see.

No, sorry … Probably the whole Wales would be one big glorious day to spend for me since I never was there. However hiking Snowdonia might be great. I’ve seen inviting green grass on the pics there.

  1. Some magnificent old Welsh story …
  2. Sangria de cava (all the way) with lots of stawberies in it of course.
  3. Something like this:

Or something like this with a cup of coffee in my hand of course.

4, You know … our stuff (čevapčiči and those thingys) our way with lots of beer pured on it while grilling.
5. River Soča (Slovenia) - the most greenish-blue river I’ve ever seen.

Receding fog and emerging sun. Failing that a week in the Eisteddfod with my brother and his girls and a 2 day camping trip to Aberdaron with other families from the village - it’s become an annual thing.

What’s your best remedy for a disappointingly cool, wet and windy summer Saturday?

A wet welly walk to tire the kids, hide and seek (for the same purpose), good food, good music a movie night, wine.

In a complete wash out, which far flung destination would you escape to and what would you do there?

A quiet villa with its own private beach in southern France. Swim, play with the kids, eat good food, drink good wine, enjoy good company.

Given a gloriously warm summer’s day, can you recommend a great day out anywhere in Wales?

Exploring almost anywhere in Pen Llŷn. Wonderful beaches, stunning views, local produce, great pubs, good company.

My mum visiting in…two days! We’ll be spending almost a week doing the tourist thing. Although, sadly, I’m probably most excited about turning my email Out of Office on and making someone else deal with the cranky clients…heheheheh.

What’s your best remedy for a disappointingly cool, wet and windy summer Saturday?

Layers and a nice brisk hike, followed by hot chocolate…and/or mulled wine. Also, pie.

I’m one of those slightly bizarre people who loves the rain. I would happily stay put with a blanket and a good book. But if I must choose a far flung escape, I choose Siena, Italy, and GELATO! :yum:

A day out anywhere in Wales sounds like a great day to me!

The Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas, since the next one is out in Sept.
Mint Peach Iced Tea (w/rye bourbon), light on the ice.
Ribs, cooked for hours so that they’re so tender they fall off the bone.
I don’t know that I would call it a “view”, but I love being amongst the redwood trees. It’s very soothing to be surrounded by beings so big, old, and strong.
