Andy Lowe: The last book I read was a book called Wild Wales by George Borrow.

I am a great George Borrow fan. Not only was he a total polyglot (including Welsh, Romany/Roma, Portuguese and Spanish (for his period selling Bibles in Iberia) but he was also a captivating writer. We live within a few hundred yards of his Wild Wales itinerary.

Absolutely love peanut butter and jelly. Especially a make called ‘Goobers’ sp? I >used to be able to get it from the American BX in Germany. Don’t know if you >can get it any more, and I haven’t had it for 20 years at least!!

They sell it at Tesco in the American section. (at least at the Tesco Express down the road with one small bay of American nostalgia) £4.50-ish for a jar.

Wow, I love this forum… two George Borrow Fans and a supply of Goobers, all in 14 hours!

Dw’in hapus!

Not sure if you know this, Andy, but the word ‘goobers’ is old-timey American slang for ‘peanuts’.

Hi Diane, no I didnt knwo that but will remember it for the next pub quiz I go too!!
