In an individual medley, the order is Butterfly, Backstroke, Breastroke, Freestyle and in a team medley relay the order of the strokes is Backstroke, Breastroke, Butterfly, Freestyle. In both cases ‘Freestyle’ can be any stroke that hasn’t already been swum, so generally it’s Frontcrawl.

I don’t do chefs, so I’d like a comedian (we’ll order in! ): Jerry Seinfeld
b) speaker: Michael Rosen of BBC Radio 4 “Word of Mouth”
c) Most of my favourite musicians are either no longer with us, or past their best … but if he’s still going: Roy Wood. If not, another comedian: Stewart Lee.

  1. Can you name 3 positive things about your coming week?

c) We will be with son, daughter, daughter-in-law, grandson, and wife’s brother

  1. Teach me 3 simple things about something you know a lot about - an area of expertise/your occupation/a hobby, etc.

I’m absolutely not an expert, but listening to “A Daughter of Time” by Josephine Tey, which is being serialised on Radio 4 Extra, I learned that “the princes in the tower” were probably still alive when Henvy VII came to the throne…which means that Richard III (probably, or possibly) didn’t murder them after all.

Having said that, the book was written in 1951, and there may well have been discoveries made since which might invalidate her arguments. (Wikipedia suggests that is the case).

It’s a good book though.

  1. 3 favourite songs/pieces of music from 3 different genres?

a) J S Bach Toccata and Fugue in D Minor
b) “Duelling Banjos” (as in the film “Deliverance”)
c) “Take on me” A-ha. (and the famous cartoon-style video - see Youtube)

Not favourites as such, just 3 of many I could have chosen, chosen almost at random).

  1. 3 favourite Welsh things - anything from food to mountains to celebrities?

a) The little trains of Wales (and their surroundings, of course).
b)“Rownd a Rownd” on S4C
c)The tune “Cwm Rhondda” with either the English or the Welsh words (bearing in mind that the normal English words (“Bread of Heaven” etc) are not a translation of the normal Welsh words (which I certainly can’t remember, although did attempt to learn once or twice).

Skyrim is my favourite video game, so I’m choosing that

-The dragons in Skyrim have their own language, Dovah (or Dovahzul), that you can hear in in-game dialogue (even entire conversations) as well as in the soundtrack (the main theme is completely in Dovah).

Ahrk fin Kel lost prodah, do ved viing ko fin krah,
Tol fod zeymah win kein meyz fundein!
Alduin, feyn do jun, kruziik vokun staadnau,
Voth aan bahlok wah diivon fin lein!

-In the game, dragons don’t breathe fire, they shout. Shouts are one, two or three Dovah words, that - when shouted by a dragon or someone else who “truly understands the meaning of the words” - can cause different things. For example, the shout can come out as fire or ice or a force. It can summon a dragon, summon a storm, make the shouter invisible, slow time… Basically shouts can do a lot of things

-If you always rush to the next quest, using fast travel or speed potions, you’re missing out on a lot of really cool scenery and small details.

4) 3 favourite songs/pieces of music from 3 different genres?

Very difficult to choose actual favourites, but these are some that I listen to a lot and really like

-Wyt ti’n Nabod Mr Pei? by Y Bandana

-Meddwl ar Goll by Patrobas

-Assassin’s Creed III - Main Theme

5) 3 favourite Welsh things - anything from food to mountains to celebrities?

-Folk music (Patrobas, Gwilym Bowen Rhys, Calan)
-The stone houses and the dry stone walls
-Nature

O never played Skyrim so question from me: Does understanding and using of shouts come with improvement into next levels or you can use them from the very beginning (if you have the access to the language at that point)?

Thuis is the case wi8th every single game … however speedrunning has their own wonders and awes, like glitches you can use (which every game is full of them if you’re skilled enough to find them and saying this it becomes quite of time competitive thingy then. Both is interesting though … going slow and discover observe the scenary and small detailes and speedrunning … Oh, but not that I’m speedrunning though. I’m just watching the speedrunners speedrunning various (however the most 2D and NES) games at least twice a year when they merge together game playing with fundraising money for charity cause.

Is this the part of the meaning to discover or it can be publicly translated? I’d be interested in what it says.

  • Bilingual children stop mixing their languages when they are about four so it won’t hold them back at school
  • It’s amazing what failing to understand the word “sweets” will do to encourage a reluctant child to speak in the non-community language
  • Bilingual kids make the best jokes “I eat Ei for breakfast”, anyone? (Yeah, my kids are pretty gruesome!)
