Hello everyone,
I am planning on taking a trip to Wales with my children. We are looking into staying in a cottage or farm home. As our list of places we would like to see while there grows, I thought I would ask for suggestions of MUST SEE places from all of you.
Thank you for your time,
Lisa
Which part(s) of Wales do you anticipate spending the most time?
If you happen to find yourself up north on Ynys Môn (Anglesey), there’s a fantastic B&B in Llanddeusant called Hen Bont Farm. Their bara brith alone is worth the stay! Lots of great outdoor recreational pursuits in the area as well. If you make it to the island, I would also recommend a visit to Halen Môn in Brynsiencyn on the shoreline of the Menai Straight. They offer a guided tour of their sea salt production facility and have a shop full of their amazing salt products. It also should be noted that there is a magnificent view of the Snowdonia Mountains from there as well.
Hmmm… tricky… but if I were you, my list would include:
Castles: Caernarfon, Cardiff, Dolwyddelan, Castell y Bere, Harlech.
Mountains: yr Wyddfa, Aran Fawddwy, Cadair Idris, yr Eifl.
Towns: Conwy, Blaenau Ffestiniog, Dolgellau, Aberystwyth, Tyddewi, Llandysul, Bala, Betws-y-Coed, Aberdaron.
General: Aberaeron for honey ice-cream, Hufenfa’r Castell in Harlech for what is probably the best ice-cream in the world, Ynys Enlli if you’re lucky enough to get a place on the boat over, Ystrad Fflur for Dafydd ap Gwilym’s grave, Cilmeri for Llywelyn, Sycharth and Glyn Dyfrdwy for Glyndŵr.
That should get you off to a decent start…
Aran is decidedly biased in favour of the north Wales.
I recommend for Castles Kidwelly, Laugharne, Llansteffan,
For mountains, the Black Mountain in the Brecon Beacons, Pen y Fan
Towns, Carmarthen, Llandeilo, St Davids ( Ty Ddewi, really a city), Tenby,
Caldy Island, Paxton Tower (for views of the Towy valley), Cefn Sidan beach at Pembrey, Coastal path all the way round the coast, Brechfa Mountains for mountain biking and great views, Lots of small railways about the place.
Aberystwyth and Cardiff for “The Arts”
Another decent start!
Hello
If you could indicate where you plan to stay, when and for how long it would give people more chance to suggest places of interest or things to do in that locallity.
I am slightly biased in that Monmouthshire is a beautiful county to visit and the National Eisteddfod is here this year.
