When are we going to get a PayPal option on the subscription page?
Obviously it’s not because I don’t trust you Aran. But it does give an extra layer of security when paying online. Especially with the https flaw recently.
Not in the immediate future, I’m afraid - Paypal are such a headache to deal with, we may well end up in a situation where one-off payments have a Paypal option, but the subscription option needs to be card-based.
The most frequent issue is how Paypal cancels subscriptions when people get a new version of their card (even if all its details stay exactly the same) - and sends emails which are often interpreted by users as being a message that we have cancelled their subscription - which tends to swallow up a fair bit of support time!
This isn’t cast-iron, and by the time we can test everything a bit more fully so that we can see a bit more in terms of how many people don’t subscribe because there isn’t a Paypal option, maybe we’ll need to revisit it - but I wouldn’t want you to think that it was on the way when it’s not currently really on the list. Sorry about that.
For the record though, I upgraded our server with the new version of OpenSSL, so we’re not vulnerable to the much-publicised bug of a few weeks ago
