Mea culpa! Guilty! Euog!

And with no excuse at all!
I do not know how many times I have stood on damp touch lines in the rain and wind before graduating to damp terracing and eventually to covered terrace and then a seat in the stand at a famous ground. How many of those times did I end up yelling, “Don’t argue with the Ref, Bach, you’ll only get sent off!”?
I don’t know. Lately it’s been the TV I yelled at. And did I learn?
I used to wonder why those twp lads argued. Now I know!
And I am guilty of arguing with, not just any Ref, but the one who wrote the rule book. Furthermore, I didn’t just argue, I was so sure I was right that I totally lost my rag and used impolite language. Or to put it in simple Anglo-Saxon, I was rude.
For all this I apologise.
I will try to avoid repetition, but it is clearly all too easy, when, rightly or wrongly, my sense of justice is stirred, to forget all those cold, damp touch lines and the cardinal rule that never, ever is it acceptable to argue with the Referee!

Welcome back @henddraig!

Speaking on behalf of all the moderators, I can assure you that we are really keen not to ban anyone if it can be helped. We much prefer to have a quiet word if we feel that the general welcoming, tolerant and supportive nature of the forum is being compromised, but for the forum to be successful it is really important that the guidelines are adhered to. We are very firm about that.

If someone disagrees with a decision by a moderator, there is always the facility to raise it in a PM, in which case it will be looked at by all the moderators and a consensus reached on whether the original decision was correct, so arguing on the forum is never necessary or acceptable.

Thank you for your commitment to avoid arguing with a moderator on the forum in the future. The next step after a temporary ban has to be a permanent one, and we sincerely hope we never have to take that step with anyone.

Let’s keep the forum a place where friendly support and encouragement rule the day!
