Lost in about 1970, Max Boyce song, can anyone help?

well, being a researcher ‘by trade’ I couldn’t resist trying!

and may I add…

  1. No record still exists - that we know of right now. old recordings have been known to show up in the most unlikely circumstances. your ‘lost’ bit of paper might even fall out of an old book one day!
  2. Max has re-vamped the material into at least two other songs and has no record of the one I heard. - you never know, it may have aroused his own curiosity and perhaps he’ll happen to come across it (on a piece of paper!)
  3. That punch line is lost forever, save in my memory! - not necessarily lost, perhaps Max will be inspired to use it in a new song (and if he does, you can grin smugly because it’ll be down to you reminding him of it!)
  4. No point hunting any more! - maybe not actively hunting, but don’t give up. see number 1!

and believe me, you’re certainly not the only one wishing you hadn’t lost certain bits of paper!

Diolch eto! Unfortunately, my bit of paper would fall out into a lab in Harrogate, and I 'm not even sure the lab still exists!
Your other hopeful points are much more likely to lead forward to a joyful outcome! And, of course, I am not sure how many people listened to Good Morning Wales in those days, but many were younger than me and any or all of them…may remember it well!!
Oh, and if Max is to act, I hope he doesn’t delay, for both our sakes! I know he’s younger than me, but I believe he’s had a heart attack, and my lungs are shot!

O, @siaronjames, I doubt it makes a difference, if your colleague looked at the whole of JUNE 1970, but I realise - election 18th, no program until after polls close, so Max singing 19th and my recollection dates from 20/06/1970!

yes, I emailed her back to thank her, and she replied and apologised again for not finding anything even though she did check under ‘Good Morning Wales’ for the whole month, and also under all the other Radio Wales programmes the week of the election as well as under ‘Max Boyce’.

Unfortunately, it happens and it’s so frustrating - and it’s a regular occurrence in my line of work!

For nostalgia, I wonder if they archived old episodes of things like Teliffant or anything else (even the odd Heddiw?) from the 70s/early 80s, that could be uploaded to you tube. Has S4C ever done a back in the 70s sort of nostalgia TV sort of thing - I’m guessing they quite possibly have, but haven’t seen any myself?

I really disliked Teliffant by the way, but a touch nostalgic to see a glimpse of one again for some reason.

Even though there are huge gaps in what was kept, there are many wonderful things that do survive in both the BBCWales and S4C archives, but whether or not they ever make it to youtube is really up to the BBC/S4C and /or the independent production companies - and is easier said than done because of various copyrights and performance rights that would have to be cleared.
There have been nostalgia-type things on S4C - ‘Cofio’ for one springs to mind - but not any lately. Even if we pitch the ideas, if they don’t commission them, we can’t produce them!
