I don’t know if it’s still the case, but Clic didn’t used to show repeats for contractual reasons (I think because the S4C contract with programme makers paid only for one instance of web distribution). It looks like the situation with the BBC iPlayer is different. Which is good news!

I think that probably depends on the production company and the contract. I think I remember someone on here (the lady that works at S4C, perhaps?) that some programmes (e.g. Ar Lafar, which I am dying to see again) could be repeated on the schedule, but not held on Clic for repeated viewing.

Only problem with iplayer is that with programmes that would have Welsh subtitles (as well as English, which is only a minority of programmes in the first place), you don’t get to see them on iplayer, because there is no mechanism for switching between subtitle languages, as you have on the Clic player. With iplayer, it’s just subtitles on, or off, and if they are on, it’s English, of course.
I contacted the BBC to complain about this, and of course they blamed S4C. I knew it almost certainly wasn’t S4C;s fault, but I went through the motions of contacting S4C. They replied politely (they are much nicer than the BBC…) to say that yes indeed, it was the BBC’s problem, because of course, it was the BBc’s player, and not under the control of S4C in any way.
I am perffaith siwr that S4C ships over both sets of subtitles to the BBC, and the BBC then quietly forgets all about the Welsh ones. Because of course, they would have to redesign their player (very slightly) to provide the same sort of mechanism that’s already in the Clic player.
I’ll bet it’s a trivial modification, but as it’s only for a minority of a minority, I don’t suppose they can be bothered.
