Hello I am based in Bournemouth, Dorset and would like to set up a group in Bournemouth to cover Dorset, Wiltshire and Hampshire. Is anybody interested? Is it possible this could be mentioned on the mailing emails.
Sorry this has been posted on another thread but I hadn’t seen this one.
best wishes,
Michael
Good for you!
How you do this depends on your circumstances. If you want to just set a date and time, and are willing to go along for a few weeks on your own to see if people come, may be the best thing- smile nicely at Dee and she will put it in the monthly email
You might want to wait until a few people say they will come on a certain day or date if you are not willing to spend a week or two in a pub on your own (why do I always assume these meetings take place in pubs?), but the main thing is to get it started and see what happens.
I would go for the “just start it” thing myself- if it doesn’t work, no harm done done! But trying to wait for people to say they will come along once in a blue a moon on a certain day or date in the month, and then trying to work around that can be counterproductive. However, horses for courses! Good luck!

Oh, and just to say I would think weekly is always better than monthly, if possible People may not come every week, but they will be far more likely to remember the day and just come along on spec.
But that may not be practical for you,of course!
I’ve just realised this might come across as a bit presumptuous in offering advice which wasn’t asked for! If so, sorry about that - just always good to see groups like this set up like this for Welsh anywhere and hope it succeeds!
thats great, thanks for the advce.
I agree - weekly is better - and I am more than happy just to turn up and see what happens.
Shwmae Michael!
If you do set this up and want a little more exposure, once you announce the details (venue, date, time and frequency), I can make an entry on my website about it too if you wish.
There are no promises it will reach an intended audience, as the site is relatively new and still incomplete!
The website is aimed at Welsh learners and speakers, predominantly in the Kent area, but the community page covers much of the South of England, including London as well. Of course, ALL Welsh learners are welcome to view the resource pages (or indeed the entire site!) regardless of where they reside.
If you want to have a look, the site is called Caintneg Cymraeg (Kentish Welsh). Just go to http://www.caintnegcymraeg.co.uk/ and have a look. Also, any suggestions you wish to make about anything that could be included on the site are always welcome.
