@aran , that is so good and so useful for non-drivers, could it be on a ‘help’ list so its easy for people to find? Do you think that is a good idea?
Good idea - I’ve added it to the Bootcamp page, with a note of thanks to Danny
Thanks ever so much, Danny. Those look like great resources. I appreciate your assistance.
I’m sorry, @aran, but I can’t find it. Probably I’m being thick. In case there are others who have the same problem, could you explain how to find it?

I’ve another question concerning our upcoming trip. I’m curious to know, particularly considering the referendum on leaving the European Union, whether when we come to Wales next month we should plan to get pounds or euros for walking around money. I’m assuming (though perhaps I shouldn’t) that our MasterCard would be accepted most places, but I’m sure we’ll need to have a bit of cash as well. Hints and suggestions very welcome.
You will need to get pounds, no matter how the referendum ends. The UK never had the Euro as currency.
The MasterCard was always accepted.
Ah. Diolch yn fawr, fy ffrind.
Croeso, Morgan.
I should add that I don’t live in the UK, I only visit Cymru for about two weeks every year (Bootcamp and Eisteddfodd) I never travelled on my own in remote or very rural areas.
I suppose things may have changed, but I have always travelled on my own and have only ever felt nervous in London after dark. The more rural the area, the safer I always felt!! Now I know there has been the odd nutter in, e.g Permbrokeshire who has murdered people, but I never based my activities on that!
OK, if you are on foot on a difficult path, it may be a bit risky. I’ve had the odd “Whoops…nearly broke my leg there. Could be a while before anyone found me, so it’s good I’m in one piece!” experience. and those were all virtually in sight of my home on Gower!!
Hmmm… Cricieth isn’t exactly urban…
I was referring to Morgan’s question, if he needed cash or if he could get around with his credit-card. Cricieth is not London, but there is (or was) a bank and a cash mashine and you could pay by credit card in many shops and pubs.
But I remember in the Bootcamp of 2014, we went into a pub in a small village and an American Bootcamper wanted to pay for a round but her American card was not accepted.
Btw, I never felt not safe in Cymru.
Releif (You’ll soon hear why …)
Are you going to visit??? I’m so pleased for you!! But hurry or you’ll need a visa and probably have trouble getting one!!
FOR CYMRU AND CYMRAEG EVERY TROUBLE WORTH ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING! (I’ve just decided it is so just right now).
End of (political) debate as we respect the rules and thinking of all.
I’m always looking forward to our weekly chat on Saturday, but now I’m very curious.
Ooooh, now I’m getting excited for you! Are you going to get to go to Wales? I will be waiting to hear when you are ready to tell!
Adding a new question to all this…Has anyone in the group topped Yr Wyddfa in Snowdonia National Park? If so, I’d be very interested in hearing opinions on the best way(s) up. It’s something my wife and I are planning during our holiday, and I’ve read a lot and viewed videos about it, but that’s not quite the same as getting impressions face to face (or at least as face to face as one may get in an online forum). Thanks much.
Depends on your needs/wants - I think the Miners Path is the easiest, but it’s a fair old walk - then again, they all are, apart from the train!
