Anyone been to Folly Farm? I’m thinking of taking the family there but I’m not sure what to expect…
I took my 3 year old grandaughter and 4 (edit: I mean 6 - George would be furious! ) year old grandson and their parents there a couple of months ago. Some interesting animals (1) including large cats, petting opportunities, a good selection of rides (including a mini train around the well-stocked animal farm - the deer running alongside the train added to the entertainment). Food and drink facilities were varied and acceptable. Plenty of parking. Signs were bilingual (useful for my grandchildren) but there was little obvious opportunity for speaking Welsh.
My mother-in-law had to cancel last minute but they very generously refunded the cost of her part of the ticket within a couple of days. You can book and print tickets online - look out for family or other offers.
“A good day out” was the general consensus
(1) Like many, I have mixed feelings about animals in zoos etc but I obviously overcame them on this occasion to give the family a good day out. Moreover, Folly Farm was clearly well monitored as far as animal welfare was concerned and I personally saw no case where the animals were overly constrained or neglected or stressed.
Must be 20 years or so since we used to go (eek! How did that happen?!) but my kids used to love it - was the highlight of going to visit Grandma in Pembrokeshire. Very many happy memories
I agree with @hewrop, we went about 3 years ago and really enjoyed the day. We took a packed lunch with us, as we usually do (combination of fussy eating kids and a miserly father), and found plenty of places to sit and eat. There are loads of things to keep kids of all ages entertained.
Diolch yn fawr iawn i chi.
