Finished!

I sent this to Aran earlier - I didn’t initially intend to post it here, but Aran thought it would be encouraging rather than smug, so here goes:

Just under a year to the day of starting I have finished the SSiW course! (I’ll probably keep doing the last 2 lessons of Course 3 for a good while yet, and I’ll probably go back and do the new Course 1, but…)

I can’t thank you enough for what this has done for me. My goal was to be able to speak Welsh by the time we moved to Cardiff, and we’re off in about 10 days’ time, and I’m raring to go. When I think of the years of appendage-knawing tedium in slow-moving evening classes this has saved me (not to mention the £££!) I can’t quite believe my luck.

It doesn’t stop here, of course - this is just the beginning. My next goal is to be reeeaaally fluent by this time next year - we want to fyw yn Gymraeg as much as possible when we’re in Cardiff (so, Welsh gym, Welsh knitting group, Welsh doctor, etc.) and it’ll take me a bit to be able to do that with complete confidence. But I really do think it’s achievable, thanks to SSiW.

I’m not going anywhere - I’m going to keep paying my sub, and when I’ve got a bit more time (the house in Cardiff needs a lot of work!) I’ll think about switching to polyglot and trying out a new language as well. If you get round to that 12 languages in 12 months challenge I could be up for that also.

Thank you so much for this course - you’re really making a difference.

:star:

Extremely proud of you…

Llongyfarchiadau Sarah! What an achievement to complete all 3 courses in just under a year!
I’m only 2 lessons away from the end of course 3 myself after just over a year and a half with SSiW, with the hope of finishing by the end of the month.
To finish only days before you move to Cardiff as well, couldn’t be timed better. Once you’re there, there will be no stopping you!

Llongyfarchiadau Sarah! To have finished all three courses in a year is absolutely fantastic! Pob lwc with the move. Gobeithio, gei di lawer o gyfleoedd i ddefnyddio dy Gymraeg yn y prifddinas Cymru!

Da iawn ti! Definitely consider doing the new level 1; you’ll find it really easy, and it actually does introduce stuff that the older courses don’t.

Great achievement, Sara.
You may not need it but have you thought of the residential bootcamp (probably next year now)?
Even if you don’t need it, it’s great fun.
Huw

Bootcamp is well worth going to - if nothing else, it’s a nice holiday in one of the more beautiful parts of Wales (which is really saying something).

Da iawn Sara, a pob lwc pan ti’n symud i Gaerdydd…

Amazing. Well done! I can feel your excitement from here!

Truly inspiring, congratulations Sara.

Thanks, everyone! I’m really thrilled.

I so wanted to do bootcamp this year, but with younger son doing A-levels, wife working away, new puppy, etc., etc. it wasn’t possible. Will try for next year, though, even if pup has to go to kennels for the week!
