We’re staying in a cottage south of Chester next week - just on the English side of the border, in case Covid got worse and the rules changed - so I think a day trip to Wrecsam is likely to be my only visit to Wales this year. We can probably pop into the Saith Seren in the afternoon, and I might like to see the Yale memorial - but what else is there that might be fun? Or any kid-friendly lunch ideas?
Might be worth checking out Erddig just outside?? www.nationaltrust.org.uk/erddig
Probably @gruntius would be the best one to ask about the Wrexham area, though …
Difficult with no idea of likes/dislikes but I agree, Erddig is a nice day out. A walk up to Castell Dinas Bran followed by an ice cream in Llangollen would be good too. There’s also a few other places in the Llangollen valley worth seeing like Pontcysyllte, Abaty Glyn y Groes (Valle Crucis Abbey), Castell y Waun (Chirk Castle). Wrecsam town itself is, well, past its best. If you visit y Saith Seren make sure you go into Tŷ Pawb across the road and visit Siop Siwan in there.
