Clic outside UK, hola chrome extension

I just discovered something neat and thought I would pass it on. It used to be that to watch geo-limited content from outside the UK (like http://www.s4c.co.uk/clic ) you would need to setup a VPN.

I just learned about a free extension for chrome and for android devices called “Hola” that will masquerade your location as being inside the UK (or many other locations). With this there is no need for a VPN, which can be a bit challenging to setup.

Just a caveat: Usage of this may or may not be legal in your particular jurisdiction. Please check, if you are concerned about these things,

And a caveat to the caveat: From a practical point of view, I don’t think anyone at all would be bothered about a handful of people watching Welsh language TV across the world without official permission.

Thanks for the note and warning. On closer examination it seems that Hola just sets up a special VPN tunnel between one tab in chrome and a VPN server from some list. Probably it is neither more nor less legal than tunnel bear or one of the other methods, just a little more convenient.
