I don’t understand what is being said for Idid sounds like Nace de or mace e. I am stuck not sure what to say for liked. Can’t find anything in dictionary that makes sense!!
For example “you saw” sounds like “Nace de weld” but not sure.
Cheers Raymond
“I did” is “Wnes i”. The “W” is silent, so it sounds like “ness ee”. There is a written course guide that can help you with spellings when you are really stuck. You can find links to all the course guides in the FAQ. I’ve linked them here for you:
“You saw” is “Wnest ti weld”.
Hope that helps
Edited because I originally wrote “I saw” instead of “you saw”.
Thanks very much for info! That’s great
Thank you very much for info, it is much appreciated.
Hi Raymond,
I’m only a few lessons ahead of you (lesson 14) and my advice, for what it’s worth, is “don’t worry about it”. Even this early on I’ve noticed that I’m now hearing sounds in words that didn’t appear to be there in the early lessons. Make mistakes, listen, learn and move on.
(hark at me - I was Mr Sceptical a week ago )
At the moment I’m trying Aran’s NPNR challenge (No Pause, No Repeat); just doing the lessons one after another. It’s tough but exhilarating and dispiriting in equal measure. I still find some things just sound like a bewildering whirl of Bs, and Vs, Ts and Gs, yet so many folk on here have assured me this works I’m giving it a go. Aran’s book High Intensity Language Training also has lots of good advice much of which seems to boil down to "if your brain hurts then you’re doing it right!!
Good luck
Trust me, it does get easier. After a while your brain adapts to the pace and just reacts faster.
Thanks for encouraging remarks, my brain hurts at the moment but I will perservere and no doubt in the end will wonder what l was worried about!
Thanks I am struggling at the moment but Rome or even Caerdydd or is that Nghaerdydd (which way is up?) were not built in a day. Dymuniadau gorau
Very true.
The key for me was a change in attitude. Don’t worry about mistakes; they actually aid the learning process as much as getting things right. And just trust your brain to be able to handle what you throw at it. It might not feel like it at first, but it really can.
