Sorry if this is rude but am listening to a childrens story on s4c’s Straeon ty pen and I’m sure they’re saying “cachubwm” for bumblebees ! - that can’t be right surely?!
Yep!!! I’ve just seen cachgi-bwm with the mention its south Walian.
Yeah, I learned that one from my West-Walian grandparents when I was little and, after discovering cachu last year, thought “Is that what I was running around shouting as a 7-yr old!”
The way Kim has spelled it comes up in www.geiriadur.net as coward, but I’m wondering too if it might be a compound word similar to corgi?
I definitely remember it always being pronounced as cachubwm, anyway.
