Bug reports for the new app (Tom's PWA)

That’s true, and of course it isn’t really a big deal, especially at this point in the course’s development. It’s just really an example of the kind of thing you’d get an gentle Aran “don’t worry!” note in one of the Welsh courses about, and although I can appreciate the difficulty of providing those types of comments, I’m hoping they have a plan for trying to implement them at some point.

Greek content bug/issue - I’m afraid I’ve worked past this one, so can’t be so specific re seed: there’s some confusion, probably in the first quarter of blue belt, between English ‘could’ = was able to (μπορούσα) and ‘could’ = would be able to (θα μπορούσα).

Yes, we’re going to keep on working to improve content - it’s getting more and more possible to get granular+automated with these things (we wouldn’t have any chance of doing them all by hand for all courses) - in the meantime, as I’m currently testing with Croatian, if you can ride out the weird intros, context will eventually give you the ‘aha!’ moment

Samsung S25FE running Android 16 and OneUI 8.0, Chrome browser, SSi web app version 05879e8.

I think that my progress is not being updated. It has been stuck at 9% on orange belt for days on spite of me covering more content. If I manually move forward to green belt I get content that I have already covered.

I am on round 76 but have completed 0/40 seeds.

If I click on “View Full Progress” the progress snapshot window closes taking me back to the main screen.

Armenian, early on, white belt. Gives the infinitive of “to practice” as parapelu (should just be parapel) then translates the sentence “I’m going to practice speaking” as “khoselu em parapelu” when it should be “parapelu em khosel”.

Apologies if this isn’t the right thread for mistakes in the language.

Thanks, Steak, I’ve passed that on - also thanks Greg - yeah, we should probably set up a ‘language fixes’ thread - I’ll do that now

Is there likely to be a Serbian course emerging soon? I appreciate it’s pretty much the same as Croatian, sufficiently so that I had a go with my yellow belt Croatian and found I could communicate with Serbs and be understood. Only I kept being told, ‘That’s Croatian’ and you shouldn’t speak that here. I’m okay with the gap length so far and was able to do it in the car this morning and got the material out in time on each occasion.

I have Croat friends as well so would be interesting to take on both so I can converse appropriately in both countries.

Apologies as I know this is off topic.

But it would be a neat fit for ‘what language would you like us to build next?’

I’m coaxing the builder along for Czech at the moment - I’ll put Serbian as the next item

At least, that’s my attention, but I’m about to do my hour of Croatian, so if my brain fries and forgets, do feel free to shout at me! :joy:

Great to see Welsh now on the new app!

Is this app linked to our usual SSI accounts? When using my email, I can’t use the same password, so have to request a OTP, and after doing so I get a “Go Premium” banner.

No, it’s not linked I’m afraid - that’s a whole can of worms that we’re kind of putting off at the moment - we don’t even have a payment system live for the new app yet, and our old payment systems are so bloody tangled up (with different providers/options over the years) that trying to port them looks like a good way to drown Tom in ‘figuring out why this account doesn’t have access’ for the rest of his life.

We’re not currently sure what the right forward is for this - it probably looks something like making absolutely sure that payments are working smoothly in the new app first of all, and then maybe finding out how many people would be willing to unsubscribe/resubscribe - we’ve had so many problems with tech debt over the years, we’re super keen for the new app to have as fresh a start as possible - and payment-related tech debt has always been the absolute worst!

Not to worry, I completely understand! Having worked with Stripe in the past, I know how much a right pain in the … payment processing can be… Seems like a great chance for a fresh start, and will mean you can move faster with further changes.

I’ll keep an eye out for an announcement that premium access has been launched

Belts behaving very oddly in the last day or so (current version not showing on screen in Android now, has updated 2-3 times today). It kept showing me as having previously got further than the position it opened at, and offering to jump to my previous highest point, but then repeating stuff I’d already done when it got there. As I was at the end of Blue belt, I advanced to the next one, which it declared to be Brown, and showing it as step 300 and something out of not much more (say, 338 of 362 or something - I can’t remember the numbers). When I opened it again to drive home after my class, it decided that I was on Purple instead - but just now showed me simultaneously as being on Brown and on seed 2 of Purple. See screenshots…

Greek ‘to bequiet/be silent (he)’ is just saying it in English with a greek accent.

Hard to pinpoint specifically which seed this is as it has seemingly moved me from orange to blue belt fairly quickly (skipping green?)

Thanks for understanding and being patient, @reilly-featherstone, really hugely appreciate that

@RichardBuck I’ve been having some weird stuff with belts as well - diolch yn fawr iawn for this level of detail :folded_hands:

@ben-19 fab, thank you, passed on!

Just started on the Afrikaans course. So good to have it. My Afrikaans is limited but in the white belt there are English sentences using ‘it’ (dit) and ‘something’ (iets) where these word are missing, but should be included, in the Afrikaans. Just putting it here so you are aware.

I don’t know if this is happening to anyone else, but today the new app will not load for me.

It’s not just you. It won’t load for me either.

Thanks for the heads up, it’s on the ‘to do’ list

Sorry for the downtime, don’t know what that was about, we might need to get an alert system built in.
