Blwyddyn Newydd Dda / Merry New Year

It’s very strange to think that I started learning Welsh with SSiW three years ago yesterday. After melting my brain through Course 1-3 Northern and then the Challenges 1-3, Two bwtcamps, four Eisteddfods, Many many Gigs SRC (sin roc cymraeg), Skype chats, Slack chats, Meetups, S4C Cyw then S4C crime dramas, Lots and lots of Radio Cymru, novels in Cymreag (for learners and then for grown ups). Lots of wonderful new friends, a whole new language to be myself in. It’s been an amazing three years.
I am now a Welsh speaker and almost fluent? It’s still hard work, I still have to concentrate more than in English and there are still lots of words I haven’t learnt yet. I still get frustrated that I’m not a better speaker, but I have come a long way in the last three years, far further than I thought possible. I’m still improving. To anyone new to SSiW, Dal ati /Stick at it, we can all get there.

Great work you’ve been doing!
And sure I noticed it gets frustrating at times, so it’s always good and helpful to hear the stories of those who went through those moments and…kept going forward!

Blwyddyn newydd dda, a llongyfarchiadau gwresog… :star: :star2:

Well done! Hope to be able to say that one day, well the learning Welsh bit. But take it from somebody who is bilingual for 40 years, even after living in the UK for 36 years, you will never know all the words, is there anybody out there that does, in any language? I found it helped thinking in English (my second language)
