Anyone fancy working for Menter Iaith?

Menter Iaith are advertising for 2 Development Officers. I know there are people out there that would be ready to take the plunge and start working through the medium of Welsh. They initially want people for either Llanrwst, Llandeilo or Caerffili.

Hysbyseb Swyddi Mentrau Iaith Cymru

Swyddog Datblygu x 2 (dwy swydd llawn amser)

Cyflog: £23,166- £25,694 y flwyddyn (37 awr yr wythnos)

Cytundeb: hyd at Mawrth 2018, yn ddibynnol ar gyllid, gyda phosibilrwydd o barhad wedi hynny

Lleoliad: Llanrwst, Llandeilo neu Caerffili yn ystod y cyfnod prawf o 6 mis, wedyn bydd cyfle i drafod lle sydd fwyaf hwylus i’r swyddogion.

Rydym yn chwilio am 2 berson trefnus, effeithiol a phrofiadol sydd â’r gallu i gefnogi gwaith y rhwydwaith o 23 Menter Iaith ar draws Cymru i hybu’r defnydd o’r Gymraeg.

Mi fydd y person delfrydol â phrofiad perthnasol o amryw o’r dyletswyddau yn y swydd ddisgrifiad, ond nid o reidrwydd i gyd. Rhai o’r prif ddyletswyddau fydd cyfathrebu, trefnu, cyllid, hyrwyddo a hyfforddiant.

Bydd y person llwyddiannus yn hunan disgybledig, brwdfrydig, yn gyfathrebwr da, gyda sgiliau rhyngbersonol ardderchog ac yn meddu ar y gallu i weithio yn annibynnol ac fel rhan o dîm.

If only!!!

Mi welais i’r hysbyseb 'na ond doeddwn i ddim yn siwr os oes gen i’r holl brofiad sy’n disgwyledig. Ar y llaw arall dw i’n hyderus bo fi’n medru dysgu popeth sydd angen mewn amser digon byr. Efallai dylwn i roi cynnig iddi? O leiaf, byddai’n gyfweliad diddorol.

I saw that advert but I wasn’t sure if I have all the experience that is expected. On the other hand I’m confdent that I can learn everything needed within a sufficiently short time. Maybe I should give it a go? At least it would be an interesting interview.

@Bob has such enthusiasm, that even if his welsh isn’t perfect (and its very good) that he deserves a chance.

I hope many welsh speaking organisations take this view. It really encourages us learners…i mean new speakers!

I always err on the side of ‘just give it a crack.’ The worst that can happen is, they say no. Best of luck, to you or any other SSiW’rs who have a go.

Go for it. That way, regardless of the outcome, you won’t wonder. Best wishes.

Just in the nick of time (deadline) but with a lot of verbiage missing from the application that I should have ideally included if I had found more time. I did supplement by attaching a CV but in the end it all depends on the competition.

With a career background in IT and academic Computer Science research, I will appear somewhat of a square peg in a round hole for the post. So if they are looking for round pegs then someone who has worked their way up the ranks of the Cymraeg i Oedolion establishment, ac ati, will be a better fit. But if they want enthusiasm in spades from a self-starter who could barely order Pysgod a Sglodion in Cymraeg two years back, but can now write an application in Welsh without stopping to translate, then I may be in with a chance.

I still think my application got cut short by the bell, but if I were selecting candidates then, ironically, a confident statement cut short might well stand out as worth further investigation at interview, versus a longer but more conventional application text.

I think you sound perfect for the job! They’d be mad not to give you an interview at least. :sunny:
