Just saw this.
Beth 'yf fi wedi’i wneud nawr? Translated as ‘What have I done now?’
What’s 'yf? I see them using this a lot.
I know the spoken language is all shortened and slangy, but…
And, while I’ve got your attention. What’s wedi’i? I’m assuming the translation isn’t literal. Thanks.
I’d say 'yf fi is yr ydwyf i - better known as dw i; wedi’i is wedi ei, ei refers back to beth, that’s needed in Welsh, don’t ask me why
Thanks. I think!
And to me it’s far from slangy and just sounds beautiful - it’s silly little things like this, that made me want to learn Welsh in the first place.
Indeed - I totally agree Toffidil. I’m just intrigued by all the ‘shortenings’!
Saw what you did there.
Hilarious - and fair point! I see a day when everything gets so short…it simply won’t be there. Ooooer.
Yeah, peoples names (mainly male) often get shortened to just the initial now
Although for some weird reason they could be prefixed with “Big” or suffixed with “Man”. Sort of Big J or G Man. Or even just “Big Man” with no name in their at all.
